Overview

This light rail project extended the Blue Line from Ledbetter Station to the University of North Texas (UNT) Dallas campus with 2.6 miles of new double track. The project included 19,000 ft of ballasted track and 8,528 ft of direct fixation double track, two new stations with park-and-ride facilities, reconfiguration of the existing Ledbetter Station, overhead catenary system (OCS), five bridges (three direct fixation and two ballast deck bridges), two at-grade crossings, mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) walls that support embankments to transition from an at-grade to an elevated alignment, and cast-in-place walls. Project work was completed within a constrained right-of-way with environmentally sensitive areas and included major bridge structures over Five Mile Creek (a 65 span bridge) and the six-lane Campus Wisdom Road.
